This listing is for a 1 ½ quart bag of #2 coarse vermiculite. It is approved for organic growing and is OMRI (Organic Materials Research Institute) listed. The contents of the bag will fill approximately four 4” pots. Vermiculite is a mica type mineral. The ore is heated to over 1400 degrees F. The heating process causes expansion creating accordion like particles capable of holding a considerable amount of plant available air, water, and nutrients. Vermiculite has the characteristics of high water holding capacity and good buffering ability. It also has a high absorbtive capacity for fertilizer. The mineral itself contains potassium, magnesium, and calcium which are slowly released to the soil.

Vermiculite is commonly used for seed germination and for cutting propagation and as a seed covering. You can also combine vermiculite with peat moss and other inert ingredients to make a soilless potting mix.

The particles range from approximately the size of unpopped popcorn down to coarse sand. The playing card in the photo is for size comparison and is not included with the listing.

Shipping via USPS Ground Advantage with tracking is included in the price. Thanks for looking. #353B
