small bowl. They are traditionally smoked with a
fine-cut tobacco. The metal bowl is small in design to be filled with one or two pinches of
tobacco.
Japanese Kiseru pipe are highly sought after for the reason, once
you have finished smoking, you can start again without waiting (unlike a classical briar pipe which needs rest).

How do you clean smoke
from a wooden pipe?
With
pipe cleaners and isopropyl alcohol.
Just dip the pipe cleaners in alcohol and then run them through the pipe's
mouthpiece and stem.
Tar is oil-based and will not dissolve in water, but it
does dissolve in alcohol, so use the highest percentage isopropyl you can find,
typically 91%.
