DESCRIPTION

A complete ten volume edition of Fielding's works.

With an engraved portrait frontispiece to volume I.

A lovely edition of the important English novelist's works, including his best known literary accomplishments, the comic novel 'Tom Jones', and the sentimental novel 'Amelia'. 

Henry Fielding was an eighteenth century English novelist best known for his earthy humour and satire, and remembered for 'Tom Jones'. Alongside Samuel Richardson, he is considered one of the founding fathers of traditional English novels. 

With the stamp W.T.L.E.E to a front blank of volume I, and the title page of the remaining volumes.

With a memoir of the life of the author by Arthur Murphy.


CONDITION

In tree calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Minor losses to leather of volume III and IV back strip heads. Lacking all volume number back strip labels, aside from the volume VI label. Head of front and rear joints of volume I, II, III, starting, but firmly held. Head of front joint of volume VIII and X starting, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd handling mark and instance of light spotting. Stamp to a front blank of volume I, and the title page of the remaining volumes.
