VTG (50s-60s) ©Kelvin (C-372) Gold Miner & Donkey Ceramic Coin Bank (5 1/4" h)

The vintage matte glazed finished ceramic coin bank with a whimsically forlorn gold miner and his burro with leaning in front of a barrell with FOR MY GRUBSTAKE printed on the barrel is in good condition.

Condition details of note include wear to the red glaze handkerchief, the chunk of gold on top of the barrel and an improvised stopper.  Layers of masking tape wound around the cork to increase its diameter and two pins inserted to into the cork hold the stopper in place. Certainly an ingenious and original adaptation but definitely not the original stopper. Although there is a trade mark displayed on the base but no country of origin its thought that the piece might have been made in Japan.

Measurements (approximate): Height 5 1/4"; base length 3 1/2"; base width 3 1/8", stopper diameter width 1 3/4" and weight 8 oz
