This is the 15th impression of the first edition of British poet Rupert Brooke's most famous collection of poetry. The first impression was published in May 1915; it eventually reached a 24th impression by June 1918, probably fueled by interest in the poet's death in April 1915 while taking part in the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. Brooke was a war poet, best known for his idealistic sonnets written during World War I and for his association with the Bloomsbury group of authors and artists.

Very good condition commensurate with age. Covers are slightly worn on edges and surfaces; a sliver of the paste-on title is missing on the spine. Foxing on the early pages. Gift dedication on free end paper but no other marks. Hinges are sound. Several pages are unopened or only partially cut, i.e., they have not been separated from the previous page with a paper knife--an indication that this book was not handled very much.
