This auction is for one (1) Zenith Royal 1000-D Trans-Oceanic Portable Short Wave Radio made sometime in the 1960's in very good used condition.   This is an amazing radio full of compartments and surprises - from the world frequency map to the hidden antenna!   There are great resources online for the schematics and manuals for this item as well as details about updating it for current use.    Great for anyone who appreciates cold war history, or just loves a well made radio from that time period.

When batteries are loaded into case and plugged in unit turns on and you can hear static.    Not familiar with this type of radio and was unable to get the tuning knob to work.  It spun but did not move the tuning mark on the gauge.  See photos for details on what is included with radio - includes the reception table and the battery case shown.   No batteries included.  Did not unfold antenna to avoid breaking anything.   Latches on case close well.    Note that radio has normal cosmetic wear for its age - including scratches, discoloration, small spots of damage and other normal wear issues.    Stored indoors in climate controlled rooms for many years as part of a private collection.    Sold as is with no returns.

Shipping Note:  This will ship in an oversized box with extra packaging to avoid damage.   The box dimensions will be over 12" and the radio itself weighs over 10 pounds without packaging.
