Details

Scoring 446 goals in a season, the 1983-1984 Edmonton Oilers set an NHL record for most goals by a team in a season, a record that still stands today. Along with that, they were the first team to feature three players with 50 goals (Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, and Glenn Anderson). Gretzky would lead the Oilers with 87 goals during the ‘83- ‘84 season, 33 more than his next closest teammate Glenn Anderson with 54. Gretzky’s 87 goals were second most in NHL history, second only to the 92 goals he scored in the 1981-82 season. 1983-84 saw Wayne Gretzky score 51 points to start the season establishing a new (and current) record of consecutive games with a point to start the season.
