This beautiful vintage 1950's Japanese cotton yukata robe features a lovely blue and white abstract nature print evocative of a riverback with plants and birds. Its nature-inspired theme and authentic Japanese craftsmanship make it a real representation of Japanese culture.

It has short-drop kimono sleeves and a flattering V-neckline. The finely-woven cotton fabric is airy and lightweight, very soft, cool, and comfortable, with vents under the sleeves for added ventilation. It doesn't have a tie, so you can add a unique touch with your own obi sash. A bright red sash looks great with this robe. Many seams are handsewn; a few of the longer ones are machine-sewn.

It has the usual gauze fabric reinforcements at the shoulder and the seat. The shoulder reinforcement has been carefully repaired by hand. There are some signs of wear, such as slight discoloration at the back of the collar, some staining on the lower edge of the sleeves, and a spot on the lower front that's invisible when the robe is closed. There's also a small handsewn repair at the bottom of one sleeve. This is a well-loved garment with a history, making it all the more precious.
