Clean, attractive first edition, second printing Pantheon hardcover of Watts' 1957 obra maestra. Despite its age and appearance, indicators strongly suggest this remains an unread copy, but possibly gently read once. Overall a Very Good text in a Good or better jacket. Pages are clean and crisp. Binding is solid and tight. Cover is clean with sharp edges and corners, softened cloth at spine ends and a few small edge impressions, otherwise no significant wear or imperfections. Unclipped dust jacket also clean and respectable with mostly light, insignificant edge and surface wear, showing even age toning - heavier along spine - plus moderate chipping at head of spine and a couple short edge tears with associated creasing. Also some light toning to paste-downs, flyleaves and text block edges, with a very slight dusting of faint, tiny age specks to text fore-edge. Nothing critical or dramatic, and overall no major cosmetic imperfections: no stains, no moisture issues, no torn or marked pages etc. All told, a clean, attractive, nicely-preserved copy that has aged mildly and evenly. Jacket wrapped in clear archival sleeve.
