there is a narrative section at the beginning which not only discusses the biology of butterflies and their distribution and lifecycle but also looks at different attitudes towards them around the world.

The book has grey card boards overlaid with a printed design. The spine is pale grey cloth. There is some rubbing to the corners and a red mark which can be seen in the photos. A little yellowing to the spine.

Inside, the book is clean and bright with only a light age tone to the internal edges. The pages are rough paper and the plates are matte. All of the plates are bright and present and the binding is secure with no lean.

All in all a pretty book and a lovely addition to any antique natural history book collection or a decorative feature in a vintage home scheme.
