Josephus's life stimulates much controversy among historians. Born a Jew in Palestine in 37 AS, he was highly regared as a member of the priesthood in Jerusalem and as a strategic member of the Jewish revolutionaries preparing to defend themselves against Rome's determined effort to restore order. Then in 67 AD, he saved his life by yielding to enemy military commanders, who brought him to Rome as their protege. We perceive the tiny spark of Christianity that was to become an all consuming flame, the powerful Roman Empire that was to sire the modern world, the indisputable drama of the Jewish War which ended in the destruction of Jerusalem. This is the second volume in an informal series.
