Costco Shop Cards are mailed with a zero balance. To activate, call the toll-free number that will be included with your card(s). For individual card purchases, please have the ship-to phone number available at time of activation.

For orders of two or more cards, please activate all cards prior to distributing to recipients.

Note on Gift Messaging: Due to envelope size, only 180 characters, including spaces, are allowed in the body of the gift message. Please add your message during checkout.

Shipping & Returns

Shop Cards are Non-Refundable

FOR DIGITAL / E-MAILED CARDS:

Recipient’s email address MUST be supplied in the email field on the Shipping Address page.

Delivery to an incorrect but deliverable email address as provided by the purchaser is the responsibility of the purchaser.

The recipient will receive the Digital Shop Card email within 2 hours of the order confirmation email being sent to the purchaser. Additional processing time may be required.

Digital Shop Cards can be accessed by clicking the “Access Card Now” button in the digital email. These cards do not require activation prior to use.

Digital Shop Cards can be used at any US, PR or CA Warehouse, Costco.com and Costco.ca.

Digital Shop Cards are not available to be used at Food Courts or Gas stations at this time.


Shop cards are not redeemable for cash except as required by law. 

The following states allow for cash back when your balance drops below a certain amount:

  • Balance less than $10: CA
  • Balance less than $5: CO, HI, ME, MA, MT, NJ, OR, WA
  • Balance less than $3: CT
  • Balance less than $2.50: TX
  • Balance less than $1: RI, VT
