CARE BEARS Picnic & Very Best Present World cassette tape 1986 Penelope Bender This is “Picnic & Very Best Present In World,” by The Care Bears, a previously-owned audio-cassette tape in a plastic case with liner notes. It was issued through Car-Tune Cassettes in 1986, shows little-to-no wear and plays perfectly (double-checked). The Care Bears were created by American Greetings in 1981 for use on greeting cards, but Kenner made a line of very successful teddy bears based on them a few years later, as well as a TV series (from 1985 to 1988) and three feature film spinoffs. As of 2006, the Care Bears are still being marketed. Each Care Bear comes in a different color and with a specialized insignia on its belly: for example, “Bedtime Bear” is pastel blue and sports a sleepy-looking crescent moon, and “Cheer Bear” is pink with a rainbow insignia.
