This purchase includes two sets of furniture linens or antimacassar sets. These are both handmade, most likely from the early 20th century. They are great examples of everyday embroidery made for utilitarian purposes. Not highly skilled, but, a very interesting snapshot of handwork from another time.

They were either never hemmed or done in a very rudimentary manner. There are some stains and spots. The more rectangular set appears to have been tea or coffee dyed.
