Description: 27 Volumes, Octavos. In Good plus condition. Bound in blue cloth with gilt lettering on spines and gilt seal on front cover. Boards show light bumping to corners, light sunning to spines, and mild shelf wear. Volume XVI has discoloration to both covers. Textblocks have previous owner inscription on front pastedowns, mild foxing to textblock edges and some pages, and pencil marking in margins to many pages. Volumes I and II have underlining in pencil to many pages. Volume XX has bending to bottom corner of rear pages and gray staining to fore edge. Features TLS signed by J. Edgar Hoover to Robert S. Cook informing him on where he can view the results of the FBI investigation into the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The letter is in very good condition and is signed by Hoover in blue ink. J. Edgar Hoover was the Director of the FBI and its predecessor the Bureau of Investigation from 1924 to 1972. He greatly expanded the scope and power of the FBI and instituted advances in forensic and policing technology.
The President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy, better known as the Warren Commission, was created by President Lyndon B. Johnson to investigate the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The report was published in 1964 and remains shrouded in controversy over its findings and methods.
