The Yamaha RX-A4A AVENTAGE 7.2-channel network A/V receiver is ideal for powering a 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos or DTS:X home theater. Or, you could go with a conventional 5.2 surround system and repurpose the remaining two channels for stereo in another room. Packed with Yamaha’s premium technologies, the company’s high-performance AVENTAGE series is highly regarded among the A/V pros at Sweetwater. Spec’d with prodigious power, generous connectivity (including 8K HDMI), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a phono input, an AM/FM tuner, automatic speaker calibration, and much more, the RX-A4A has what it takes to be the centerpiece of a serious home entertainment system.
High-performance A/V receivers must be able to resolve a myriad of multichannel formats in order to deliver an amazing, immersive sonic experience in your living room. The Yamaha RX-A4A can process all the major formats, including Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Surround, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio, and AURO 3D. Whether you’re streaming or playing a Blu-ray disc, the RX-A4A flawlessly handles object-based sound formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and AURO-3D, employing sophisticated steering logic to route sound components to their appropriate locations and taking full advantage of the three-dimensional soundfield afforded by your height (presence) speakers. No height speakers? Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization delivers the full Atmos 3D experience from any Dolby format by generating a virtual surround and height effect from traditional speaker configurations without requiring additional surround or height speakers. The RX-A4A’s sophisticated algorithms do all the heavy lifting behind the scenes to deliver a deeply immersive cinematic experience, regardless of the source.
if you’re setting up a surround system in a large room, you’ll likely need more bass coverage than one subwoofer can deliver. Fortunately, the Yamaha RX-A4A provides two outputs for powered subwoofers. We’d recommend starting with two subs along the front wall, symmetrically positioned inboard of the front left and right speakers and straddling the center speaker. You can experiment by positioning your subs outboard of the left and right speakers, which, depending on your room, will typically result in more expansive bass. However you position them, using multiple subs will not only deliver more bass, but also a more balanced low-frequency response. It also relieves the stress placed on a single sub during playback of bass-heavy music and action sequences, so you’ll enjoy cleaner and more detailed bass.
