There is a strong following of the old SD-2 series from 2011 still to this day. While the SD-3 and soon to be the SD-4 are much stronger in terms of low F3 & low distortion in small sealed boxes... some folks miss the ability of the SD-2 to take a tremendous beating (it shared the cone, surround, and spider of the SA series... just with a shorter coil).
Sundown Audio has decided to "revive" the SD-2 with several updates to reduce distortion, increase airflow around the coil, and increase long-term reliability (motor bolted together, aluminum cap bolted on, shorting ring added to magnet ID, spider bolted down, bigger leads, etc) by introducing a new "SLD" lineup.
