Description

Up for auction is a very cool Morrison's Ring Top fountain pen. This pen dates to the late 1910's or early 1920's, so easily over a 100 years old. Typically, this is a ladies pen and the ring top would would be worn around the neck hanging from a necklace/chain. When needed, you don't have to take the necklace off - unscrew the cap and the pen is ready for writing. When done, the cap is screwed back on. It can also be kept in a purse - probably for those who like to post the cap when writing. This is a very cool design. Ring Tops are highly collectible, and this one is a beauty.

It has a 1/40 14K Gold-Filled overlay cap and barrel, so a very thin coat of gold. It has worn off in a few places. Overall length capped it is about 3 3/4". With the cap posted; right at 4 3/4". The cap and barrel are ding and dent free. I tore the pen down, ultrasonically cleaned all of the components, and installed a new ink sac.

The Morrison nib is 14K Solid Gold with a very nice amount of flex. With a light touch you'll get an 'EF' horizontal line. A heavier touch will flex the nib to about a 'BB' on vertical pen strokes. This is a small but gorgeous pen. This would make a very nice daily writer or a nice addition to any collection, especially if you're really fond of Ring Tops.
